Modern Slavery Statement

Modern Slavery Statement for Man with Van Addiscombe

This Modern Slavery Statement sets out the steps Man with Van Addiscombe takes to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in our operations and supply chains. We are committed to conducting business ethically, transparently, and in full respect of human rights, and we recognise our responsibility to identify and mitigate the risks of modern slavery in all aspects of our work.

Our Business and Supply Chain

Man with Van Addiscombe provides local and regional transport, removals, and associated services. Our activities rely on small teams of staff, self-employed drivers and porters, vehicle hire and maintenance providers, fuel suppliers, and suppliers of packaging materials and equipment. While our operations are relatively small and local, we acknowledge that modern slavery risks can exist at any level of the supply chain, including indirect suppliers and subcontracted services.

Zero-Tolerance Policy on Modern Slavery

We operate a clear and strict zero-tolerance approach to any form of modern slavery, servitude, forced or compulsory labour, and human trafficking. This applies to our own business and to every organisation and individual that supplies goods or services to us. We expect all workers to be engaged voluntarily, to have the freedom to leave their employment in line with legal and contractual obligations, and to work in conditions that respect their dignity, safety, and legal rights.

Any employee, subcontractor, or supplier found to be involved in modern slavery or human trafficking, or to be in serious breach of our requirements on labour standards, will face appropriate action, which may include termination of employment or contract and referral to relevant authorities where appropriate.

Supplier Standards and Audits

We are committed to working only with suppliers and partners who share our values and commitment to combating modern slavery. As part of our supplier onboarding and ongoing management, we:

Assess potential suppliers for their approach to labour standards, health and safety, and ethical business conduct, giving preference to those with clear human rights policies and practices.

Require suppliers to comply with all applicable laws relating to employment, pay, working hours, health and safety, and the prohibition of forced or trafficked labour.

Reserve the right to conduct proportionate audits or inspections of suppliers, particularly where we identify higher-risk activities or geographies. These audits may include document checks, site visits, and discussions with workers to confirm working conditions and freedom of movement.

Expect suppliers to cascade equivalent standards and expectations to their own supply chains.

Reporting Concerns and Whistleblowing Channels

We encourage a culture of openness and accountability, where concerns about modern slavery or unethical conduct can be raised without fear of retaliation. Anyone working for or with Man with Van Addiscombe who suspects that modern slavery is taking place in our business or supply chain is strongly encouraged to report their concern at the earliest opportunity.

Concerns can be raised internally to a manager or senior member of the team, in writing or verbally. Individuals may choose to raise concerns anonymously if they wish. All reports will be treated seriously, handled sensitively, and investigated promptly and fairly. Where appropriate, we will cooperate with law enforcement or other competent authorities.

We will not tolerate any form of victimisation or disadvantage against anyone who raises a concern in good faith, even if it is not confirmed by subsequent investigation.

Training and Awareness

We aim to increase awareness of modern slavery risks among our staff and key contractors. This includes providing guidance on recognising potential signs of exploitation, such as workers appearing fearful or intimidated, unusual dependency on third parties, withholding of identity documents, or clear inconsistencies in pay and conditions.

Managers and individuals involved in procuring goods or services are made aware of our expectations regarding supplier conduct and the need to escalate any concerns.

Continuous Improvement and Annual Review

Man with Van Addiscombe is committed to continuous improvement in our approach to preventing modern slavery. We will review this Modern Slavery Statement at least once every year, and more frequently if required by changes in legislation, our business activities, or identified risks within our supply chain.

The annual review will consider the effectiveness of our actions, any concerns or incidents reported, outcomes of supplier checks or audits, and feedback from workers or partners. Where necessary, we will strengthen our policies, procedures, and training to further reduce the risk of modern slavery.

This Statement has been approved by the leadership of Man with Van Addiscombe and represents our ongoing commitment to act ethically and with integrity in all our business relationships.
